What with the 'democratization' of audio recording over the last decade, it's now easier than ever to say, “I have a studio." And that's a good thing. As in any pursuit, though, there are things that tend to create distinctions among participants in a chosen field. Those distinctions can include experience, knowledge, skill, facilities—equipment, too. And while all of these are important to some extent, it's the interpersonal aspect of this work that is as important as any. Giving folks the occasion to meet—and hopefully exceed their initial vision for a project is always a top priority here. There are lots of paths to that destination. The awareness of these means to an end is critical. That type of understanding and application, combined with treating each project as if it were my own, has served clients well here in the Asheville, NC area (and beyond!) since 1999. Projects large or small and their progenitors are treated with the utmost care. While it is true that no one goes out of a studio humming equipment, having an engineer that knows his stuff and is able to apply that in a properly equipped and maintained facility can go a long way toward helping artists realize their vision. If you'd like to bring your project to fruition economically and in a facility owned and operated by an engineer who is also a musician; and who has created a beautiful, comfortable and creative space for musicians, you've come to the right place. Expert tracking, mixing, and mastering can be arranged quickly and easily. Drop me a line!
Lots of thoughtful ways to maximize your investments of time and money in getting projects started and finished with high-fidelity results… even on a "well-considered" budget. I'd love to discuss with you how we can do just that. Small projects, large projects are all treated as if my own. Tracking here is efficient and euphonic. All rooms are tuned and acoustically sound. Abundant, tuned isolation possibilities insure high fidelity recordings. Want to track an album live? No problem! 22 tracks possible here simultaneously. 24 tracks on location! I have decades of experience not only as an engineer, but as a performing musician, and as a radio producer/host. My insights with regard to music, its production and dissemination to a consuming public, are unique—and time-tested.
The studio is the predominant feature of the 3700 square feet I have constructed here, which is dedicated studio space for tracking, mixing, and mastering, and which is centered around a custom-built Rupert Neve Designs 5088 console. Equipment recognized industry-wide as the best-of-the-best complements the console centerpiece. I am located on the eastern escarpment of the Blue Ridge Mountains outside of Asheville, NC; situated conveniently to I-40 and US Hwys 70 and 221, and just a few short miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. The consistent feedback here is that this is an easy and comfortable place for artists to work. Lynyrd Skynyrd drummer emeritus Artimus Pyle says it's the nicest "home" studio he's ever seen. Construction is double layer resilient channel 5/8 inch sheetrock on 2" x 6" framing, hardwood maple flooring, solid core doors, double-paned control tower-type windows, Mogami cabling throughout, and acoustic treatment---a lot of which I designed myself after much research and testing. Schedule some time to come see me here. I'd love to have you visit---and better yet, come to get some tracks down!
